Nature Drives
While staying at African Game Lodge, guests are afforded the opportunity to enjoy exciting nature drives in search for the flora and fauna inhabiting the area. All drives are conducted by experienced field guides you will find pleasure in introducing you to the wonders of the African bush during a South Africa safari.
You will encounter some of the rarest and most spectacular flora unique to the Klein Karoo, as well as an impressive variety of antelope, including Blue Wildebeest, Springbok, Gemsbok/Oryx, Eland, and numerous bird species.
Walks and Hikes
At African Game Lodge you have the option of exploring the area on foot during a two hour guided hike. This hike will include teachings on various medicinal values of some flora and viewing some great examples of unique plant specimens indigenous to the area.
You will also come into contact with the smaller creatures of the Klein Karoo, as well identifying the tracks of larger animals. For the less adventurous, an one long guided walk along the river beds and valleys proves both scenic and rewarding.
Horse Riding
Saving, Season, Fly, Kammawagga, Jimmy, Zeplin and Skollie are the majestic stallions at African Game Lodge, all available to ride. Enjoy exhilarating rides along the trails and through the bush.
To view the fauna and flora of the area on horse back is indeed a memorable and worthwhile experience on a South Africa safari. This activity is, however, only available for riders with a reasonable amount of experience.
Rock Art
Delve into the fascinating past of the area while viewing beautiful rock paintings from the first people to inhabit Africa - the Khoi San, also known as Bushmen.
Mountain Biking
For guests who are more energetic and active, mountain bikes are available to explore the area along specific routes, while retaining your fitness regime.
Fishing
Trout fishing will soon be available at African Game Lodge. Cast your rod on the still waters of the dam and let the fresh air and complete tranquility of the area inspire your senses.
Bird Watching
Guests looking for a tranquil experience, enjoy rewarding bird watching around the dams in various hides, strategically placed for excellent bird watching opportunities.
Cheetah Conservation Programme
Spend time with the fastest mammal on earth, the majestic Cheetah. African Game Lodge offers you the opportunity to get up close and personal to these amazing creatures, one of Africa's endangered species.
Presently, African Game Lodge is home to five Cheetahs, with 2 of them living in a specially constructed Cheetah enclosure. Observe their movements and actions, or watch them being fed in the mornings.
The third Cheetah, a young male named Duma, is housed in the secure enclosure and can be interacted with under supervision. This tame creature has been hand reared and is therefore extremely comfortable around humans.
Enjoy personal contact with Duma, and two young female Cheetah, Vukela and Thula. If you wish, you will be updated on the Cheetah's progress once you have left the lodge.
